Two of the hottest, and often misunderstood, technologies today are Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. ML and AI aren’t technologies just for robots and science fiction, they are here now. AI is being hyped everywhere and healthcare is no exception. There are very real applications of AI in healthcare that will soon become transformational. Also, there are billions of venture capital dollars being wasted on solutions that will not work within healthcare. This presentation will discuss the challenges of real world implementation of predictive analytics and AI in healthcare.

This session will explore Public Wi-Fi, the foundation of a smart city. More than just the provision of high speed internet, an intelligent Wi-Fi network can provide a platform for communication, branding, placemaking, and public engagement. An intelligent Wi-Fi network can also collect valuable analytics on who comes downtown, how they travel, how long they stay, and how often they return. Cities and economic development practitioners can use this data to study the impact of events, provide information for business attraction and retention, and drive decision making, just for starters. But even then, the voice conversation is quickly being eclipsed by text messaging, in fact SMS Text messaging is now the number one activity on a mobile device and the number one form of communication for people under 55. To address this change in the way people communicate, Cincinnati Bell has developed a SMS Text messaging platform utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI). This technology is in use today at Cleveland RTA, Columbus City Schools, Cincinnati Public Schools and powers a solution under development to help address the opioid crisis.
